2008- 09 Preseason Team Rankings

  1. Centennial Head Coach Jill Becken along with Superstar Megan Nipe, Bridget Schuneman, Megan Wayteshek, Kahla Becken, Hannah Steele and the Centennial squad have unfinished business this season. Coach Becken’s style of play and the athletes on this squad makes the Cougars’ gPrep's pick for #1.
  2. Hopkins Style wins! Hopkins is playing 40 minutes of up-tempo in-your-face basketball. Kara Elofson, Jasmin Mendes, Jenna Lillemoe, Hana Potter and Brianna Williams make up a potent squad.
  3. Minneapolis South Tayler Hill, Tyisha Smith, Ameshia Kearney, Europe Guy and Head Coach Ahmil Jahad are on a mission too. South has the state's top talent in Tayler Hill. But, they will have to solve the box-and-one on Hill in big games.
  4. Lakeville North Cassie Roshel, Rachel Banham, Kaiya Sygulla, and Kelsie Ammann will be very hard to beat.
  5. Saint Paul Central The defending state champion, is still a dangerous team with Superstar Theairra Taylor and two-time champion Head Coach Willie Taylor calling the shots. Incoming freshman Jen Hill will be depended on to help lead the team.
  6. Eastview The Lightening is a dangerous team! Sam Mehr can shoot the rock. Eastview's up-tempo style will make them a team to beat this season.
  7. Park-Cottage Grove Katya Leick, Tina Fisher and Holly Riesselman are winners. The team will need to make some noise in March.
  8. Bloomington Kennedy Bloomington Kennedy won the Sweet-16 tournament and is looking to make a statement this season. Aubrey Davis is more than capable on leading Kennedy. Tacita Gonzalez, Brittany Zins, Alexis Holt and defensive stopper Bailey Lund are all battle tested.
  9. Richfield Richfield High School’s Pamela January, Jamie Noonan and Mandy Poke will play at the next level. The trio needs to make a statement in March.
  10. Jordan 2A Brittany Chambers and Leah Dietel are still the best in class 2A, but they are also capable of beating most 4A teams.
  11. Chaska Chaska  High School’s Brooke Brown and Brianna Tisch will need to finish what Courtney Boylan started.
  12. Roseville Roseville High School is an extremely talented team, with 6'5" post Janae Burich, budding Superstar Megan Stuart , senior Kelsey Florian and Stormy Nesbit. .
  13. Minneapolis Roosevelt 2A We will have to see how Boler and McGuire gel. If they do, it's lights-out.
  14. Maple Grove Julie Kruse plays to win. Maple Grove will look to make some noise with scoring threats Stephanie Davison and Ellen Edison.
  15. Burnsville Burnsville High School is capable of winning in March but first they will need to win in January. Molly Duehn, Rachel Moen and Jermisha Watson make up a team capable of beating any team in the state. But, they will have to bring their "A" game every game.
  16. New Prague 3A Team to beat in Class 3A.
  17. Wayzata Kate Thompson is capable of leading her team to greatness.
  18. Minnehaha Academy 3A Minnehaha Academy is a young but experienced team. Look for Rachel Hansen and Katelyn Adams to shine again this season.
  19. DeLaSalle 3A Two words, Tori Rule!
  20. Eden Prairie Carly Rothfusz is more than capable of leading her team to big wins this season.
  21. Princeton 3A Katie Loberg and company are hungry for a state appearance at the Target Center.
  22. Armstrong It's time for Alyssa Marschner to take over and put the team on her shoulders.
  23. Osseo A team no one wants to play in a do-or-die situation. Osseo plays its best in March.
  24. Totino-Grace 3A Defending 3A Champion, this team plays hard, unselfish and plays the right way. Lizza Naumann will have to carry the heavy load in 2009.
