From warm-ups, Hopkins' Nia Hollie had a "pep in her step" and a focused demeanor in the layup line. Her passing was sharp. Hollie's shot was falling, and she executed a couple of Euro-step layups in the warm-up line. And, it carried over into the game, as the 6'1" sophomore point forward was hitting shots early and making plays often.
Hopkins junior TT Starks was also ready to play. She got it done on both ends of the court. Her toughness on defense and her ability get steals and create havoc in the passing lane turned defense into offense for the Royals. Starks had 10 first half points and finished with 15 points on the night. Hollie had 15 first half points and continued her spectacular play into the 2nd half and finished with a career high 26 points. Michigan, Iowa, Marquette, and Minnesota all had coaches in attendance. And by the look of things, Hollie and Starks impressed the coaches. The game was never in doubt as Hopkins raced out to a 12-0 lead and led 22-6 and cruised to a 74-45 win. Hopkins' Jazz Martin added 10 points. Sophomore Courtney Fredrickson led Minnetonka with 20 points.
