BLOOMINGTON, MN. -- The MN State AAU Qualifier had a few interesting story lines and several statement games on Qualifier weekend. The weekend also provided a stage for standouts to emerge and showcase their skills. North Tartan 13U Kuppe put to rest any comparison between the Charity Warriors as they went 3-0 and secured the #1 seed, including a 42-10 beatdown over the Charity Warriors 13U squad. The Charity Warriors went scoreless for much of the first half and managed only four first half points. North Tartan Kuppe is led by the entire starting five of TT Starks, Hannah Schaub, Sam Trammel, Viria Livingston & Courtney Fredrickson. The 2nd question answered on Qualifier weekend is who will get the #1 seed amongst the Junior Class. Metro Stars Black took that spot when they won a nail biter over North Tartan Elite (2nd seed) on Friday night. Metro Stars went 3-0 over the weekend. They are led by Jackie Johnson, Britney Scherber and the entire team. But, the biggest surprise on the squad was Taylor Meyer from Farmington. Not only is she an impact player, at 5'11" she has handles and can flat out make plays. North Tartan Elite is loaded but was without Tessa Cichy on Friday. North Tartan 11's &14's claimed the #1 seed. Metro Stars Amos went 3-0 to claim the #1 seed in the 15U division. Amos is led by Nia Coffey, who was spectacular. In the 12U class, MN Stars Martin went 3-0 to take the #1 seed. gPrep's first "Noise Maker" is Taylor Meyer, who put on a show on Friday night in a big way.

2012 Taylor Meyer - Metro Stars Black, Farmington

Taylor Meyer is a 5'11" point forward with nice handles and the ability to slash and score in the transition game. Meyer is the complete package because of her ability to mix-it-up in the paint and diving for loose balls. She made a lot of noise over the weekend with her hustle and ability to make plays. Meyer's long range shot is very smooth and accurate. She is a 20 points per game scorer for Farmington and does not get a lot of ink playing for a small program. But, Meyer's game is very smooth and effective. She handles pressure well, scores in traffic, and can play fast when the game is sped up. Meyer led Metro Stars Black with 11 points in a win against North Tartan Elite on Friday.

2012 Jackie Johnson - Metro Stars Black

Jackie Johnson is a versatile 6'2" post. She can make things happen in the paint but can also step out and dominate out on the perimeter. Johnson is a presence on the floor both on offense and on defense. Johnson was an impact player this weekend. She helped the Metro Stars Black squad to a 3-0 finish at the Qualifier at Bloomington Kennedy High School. Johnson is a tough in-your-face defender and shot blocker, who doesn't shy away from competition. On offense, she is a smart and terrific scorer with a lights-out mid-range game. Johnson is also crafty at getting to the hoop and finding open teammates. And at 6'2", she is very long, can run the floor and make things happen in the transition game. A lefty, she is a deceptively tough and fierce competitor, whose versatility is second to none.

2012 Marissa Janning, North Tartan Elite

Marissa Janning can flat out score. She is making a lot of noise in the AAU circuit this Spring. Janning has already made a lot of noise in Chicago and was featured on ESPN's HoopGurlz. This weekend, she did it again in her own backyard. Janning plays with confidence and has added a deadly 3-pointer to her already full tool box. A lefty, Janning is a true point guard with tremendous handles and play-making ability. She is clearly the premier point guard in the 2012 class. Janning can distribute the ball, run an offense or create for herself. She has already surpassed the 2,000 points milestone. This gamer is well groomed, well polished and has the ability to put it on the floor and get by most defenders. Janning moves her feet on defense and is willing to work hard to keep her man in front of her.

SteveL: I am a big fan of Marissa Janing so, I have known for a long time that she is a truly great guard and in my opinion the top junior in the state bar none. I hope she reconsiders her committment to Creighton because I would love to watch her play for the U.
