AAU State Tournament Noise Makers

#44 Sarah Kaminski - Wayzata

By Gary Knox - May 23, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, MN. -- The AAU State Tournament provided a few memorable moments for those keeping score and for those of us who love to see a "good game". Perhaps the biggest moment and also the biggest upset was the Crossfire 12U squad beating MN Stars Martin, 45-40. First of all, the Crossfire is a volleyball outfit. They are getting their feet wet in AAU basketball for the first time this season. And, MN Stars Martin is one of the most successful 12U teams in the country. To put things into perspective, the Stars haven't lost a game to any MN team, in their own age group, in 4 years. But on Sunday, MN Stars Martin was caught in the Crossfire. Sarah Kaminski connected on 5-of-7 three-pointers, finishing with 17 points in the big-win. But, the best game of the day and the best performance has to go to North Tartan Elite Marissa Janning. The junior guard has been lights-out all AAU season, and Sunday was no different, as she took over down the stretch for North Tartan, leading them to their 7th consecutive State Championship for that group. Janning finished with 16 points. Her scoring and performance was very clutch. The junior guard brought energy, enthusiasm and experience, and Janning was sizzling, knocking down three-pointers and taking it to the rack, with style and flair. Right now, Janning's game is very loud and she's the top noise maker this weekend.

2016 Sarah Kaminski, Crossfire, Wayzata

Sarah Kaminski is a lights-out shooter, who plays with fire. On Sunday, she showed why she is one of the top 7th grade ballers in the state, with a clutch performance in the championship game against MN Stars Martin. Kaminski finished with 17 points, including 5-three-pointers. But, what makes her good is her basketball IQ and her ability to compete and make plays. Though she's not the fastest player on the floor, Kaminski is always one of the toughest competitors at the 7th grade level.

2014 Kanesha Bell, North Tartan 14U, Kennedy

Kanesha Bell has tremendous speed and an explosive burst to her game. The freshman guard has no trouble getting by most defenders. She was very big this weekend, both on the offensive and defensive end. She is a LOCK-DOWN perimeter defender, who is a terror with her foot speed and her ability to stick to players like velcro. Right now she is quicker, faster, and more explosive than MOST players she faces. Bell finished with 17 points, mostly with explosive drives to the bucket. Bell also knocked down a 3-pointer, leading North Tartan to the 14U State Championship this weekend.

2013 Nia Coffey - Metro Stars, Hopkins

Nia Coffey continues to improve and take her game to superstar level. She finished with 19 points, leading Metro Stars Amos to the State AAU Championship. Coffey is very dominant at this level and probably won't face any opposition, unless she moves-up to the 2012 division.

2015 Sam Trammel , North Tartan, Hopkins

Sam Trammel has blossomed and has emerged as a dominant low post threat, with the ability to also move out and make things happen out in the perimeter. At 6'2", Trammel is very long and has the skill and energy to run the floor and beat defenders to the block, where she can catch and finish. She has the best low post footwork of any low post player in the 2015 class. On Sunday, she led North Tartan-Kuppe to the 13U AAU State Championship with a dominant and LOUD performance. Trammel had a double-double, 16 points and 13 rebounds.
