"As a captain, I’m trying to show that leadership part and keep the girls working hard."
Happy New Year to everyone! Wow, it’s 2008 and the start of the second half of our season. Our record is now 9-1. We’re 2nd in our conference. Our next game is against Eagan on January 8th at home. People have been stepping-up on our team this year. I would say all of our starters especially. We have been scoring as a team and getting everyone in tune with the game. I’m really happy that I turn 16 in 15 days and I can get my driver’s license… about to be whipping, ha ha! But over the break, I haven’t been doing much but watching movies and chilling with my family and best friends. (Aubrey Davis and Chantel Peterson) I don’t have any big plans for 2008. I just want to keep working hard in school and achieve the highest possible. As far as my game, it can always use more work. My shooting has been getting better, and I have been working on my range. We have actually been working on that as a team, so everybody has been getting better at that part of their game. I have my college verbal but I still have other things to work for. I want to do big things with my team, not just win games but to show an example of how a team should be. As a captain, I’m trying to show that leadership part and keep the girls working hard. I have to say the one who is progressing the most right now with defense and working harder in practice and on other things is Brittany Zins. She has been hustling in practice. Alexis Holt is also contributing a lot on the team. She has been stepping up in games and getting big down in the post. All our other players have been giving us things we need on the court and putting all the pieces together. So I plan to keep doing that in 08’ and have something to remember about this season!

"I love my team. I couldn’t ask for anything better."
This is officially my first blog, and I know everybody has been waiting for it. So far, we played 3 games and yes we’re 3-0! My team has been really hyped and coming in strong. I hope we keep the fire going, because we all have high goals that we set and hope to achieve. As a captain, I’ve been focused on team bonding a lot, because “a team divided against itself can’t stand...” This year as Kennedy’s star point guard, I want to come out and show people what I can really do. I’ve always been a passive and unselfish player and that’s not going to change. But, I still got to get mine. Before the season is over, the Gophers will know they’ve got themselves a point guard who can do whatever it is to win, no matter what it is. I’m willing to shoot that last shot. I am confident to make that long pass down the court, because I know it will make it to my teammate. Nobody can trap me, because I can dribble my heart out. I will show that nobody can stick me and shut me down. I put all my heart into every game no matter what. Even though I have made a verbal commitment, that does not mean I’m going to stop playing. What’s going on now is what’s important. I got 3 years before I’m in college. I love my team. I couldn’t ask for anything better, because they’re all different in their own ways. Every team has problems, but if you’re really a team or shall I say a family, you can work through any problem. Otherwise we have a strong team. Yea, we’re ready and it’s going to stay that way and only grow. No joke. I give props to all elite players out there putting all their work in. I give props to myself for those who may not give me my props. But whether or not you give them to me, I will do what I do. I thank GOD for putting me in this position and giving me this opportunity. I thank my family especially my parents for their support, and I thank anyone else who wishes me well. Good luck to all teams out there who have something to work for and I’M OUT!!!!
Shaq attack! It’s on!
