"One of my teammates, Jessica Katch, scored her 1,000th point."
I have been so busy lately I have barely had time to blog. I went out to Washington in November with 15 other teammates and all three coaches. In Washington we played Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound. Against Pacific Lutheran we lost by two points after being down in the first half at one point, 21 to 8. We crawled back into the game at the end but it just wasn't enough to pull out the win. The next day, the team was excited to play Puget Sound. We beat Puget Sound 51 to 42. During our Washington trip we went out to eat, fun at the hotel which had delicious cookies, and went to the fish market. Across from the hotel was a Cold Stone Creamery which we had as a team and was really tasty! Since we started our season off at Washington, we have played a total of nine games, 8 being conference and 1 non-conference. We played two really great games against St. Mary's and Simpson College out of Iowa. Against St. Mary's the team made 16 three point shots and scored a total of 103 points. Everyone played in the St. Mary's game and it was fun to watch the J.V. players ball it up out on the court. After we beat St. Mary's, we had to get ready for the seventh ranked national team ... Simpson College. This game I thought was one of the most fun games I have played in this season. We ended up beating Simpson by 10, 82 to 72. On top of having fun playing in Washington and beating the seventh ranked team in the nation, one of my teammates, Jessica Katch, scored her 1,000th point. This was very exciting and fun to be a part of. Jess is an awesome teammate that I look up to in several ways as a basketball player. Tomorrow we play Carlton and I cannot wait for the game.

"Everyone on the team has a passion for the game."
It has been an amazing time at St. Thomas thus far! These past two weeks have been full of basketball! We had tryouts last week which were pretty intense. I knew coming in as a freshman that I would have to tryout but it was new for me since at my high school we never had them. Now that we are into actual practices, I am learning new things at practice everyday. Everyone on the team has a passion for the game and really works hard everyday. I would say that one of the biggest differences from high school to college is that everyone on the team cares for the game as much as you do. The other thing I love about college Basketball is being pushed by not only my coaches but by my teammates as well because it is helping me get better. I always heard the saying "do the little things right" and understood it, but when the team does the little things right on offense and defense, the "big picture" looks a whole lot sweeter.
As far as dorm life goes..... it has been pretty good. I only have one complaint; the SHOWERS! They are set at a height about 5' 7" and I am six foot which means it doesnt work out too well. I have also met a lot of great people! Thats all for now!

"The game is quicker, players are stronger, and overall its just intense."
Wow. How fast time flies. I have been at St. Thomas for about 4 weeks now and it has been a very good experience so far. Basketball started up the second week of school. I have been very busy with school, basketball, and work. I work at a restaurant called Scooter's at school three times a week. The classes that I am taking are Psychology, German, Black American Music, and English. On the other hand, basketball is going very well. I did strain two ligaments in my foot the first week of open gyms by stepping on one of my teammates foot coming back down from a layup I had took. I am now recovered and back out there. For basketball, the team lifts three days a week and has open gyms on Mondays and Wednesdays. We also condition during what is called convo hour for about an hour every Tuesday and Thursday. I am loving every second of it but I can tell it is very different than playing at the high school level. The game is quicker, players are stronger, and overall it's just intense. I also do post workouts with our post coach Lynn every Tuesday night. We work on how to defend in the post area and how to be efficient on offense with and without the ball. Also how to make different moves and cuts. Well this is all for now and I will check back in soon!
